When writing sales pages, your copy’s call to action will frequently play the deciding factor on whether your prospect takes your relationship to the next step. A double-edged sword, an effective call to action can seal the deal while a poorly-executed one can destroy all the pre-selling you’ve done before it.

How do you craft an effective call to action?

1. Make no mistakes.

Short and succinct, the call to action is frequently a brief instruction to the action you want the prospect to take. One simple mistake and you can end up breaking the flow – leaving the reader to abandon the process. As such, make sure your copy reads well and correct by putting it through an English language software.

2. Stick to one action.

I’ve seen copies work with two different courses of action. I’ve even seen great landing pages with five different things to do. Every time I see them, however, I can’t help but imagine how much better they would work presenting a single-minded idea of what the prospect is supposed to do. Don’t risk confusing your audience – stick to one action and move their focus strictly towards it.

3. The action must be specific.

You can’t just throw out a cryptic “Do It Now!” when making your call to action. The less your prospects have to figure out, the more effective your overall message is. Tell them exactly what they have to do in as succinct a way as you can.

4. Provide an incentive.

Even when being specific, an audience often needs a reason to follow-through. As such, remind them of what they will get when they take the path you’ve just cleared. Instead of saying “Sign up now,” tell them to “Sign up now to get your copy of the 100 Best Ways To….”

5. Don’t sell.

Your copy already did the selling. The purpose of your call to action is to make sure they actually take the step. Don’t sell anymore – they’re likely sold already. Instead, just clear the path and usher them in.

Using negatives to express an idea in a sentence, while perfectly valid, is seldom the best way when putting a thought to writing. Even when done with enough care, they can still lead to confusion with the wrong audience. Unless you’re confident of your readers’ sophistication in comprehending written English, stating your points positively is always more acceptable solution.

Negative Statements

Need some examples of negative statements? Take a look at these sentences.

Take no more than one tablet a day.
It’s never too late to begin learning.

Both sentences are valid and will pass even the best grammar software. While your writing isn’t likely to suffer with one or two of these in tow, it can easily get confusing when every other statement is structured in the same way. Negative statements, for the most part, require extra thought in the part of the user, making them potentially confusing.

Contrast that to their positive counterparts and you’ll find the statements as much more straightforward.

Take only one tablet per day.
You can begin learning at anytime.

Multiple Negatives

The above examples are considered single negatives, with only one dissenting thought in the whole sentence. Things can get ugly really fast when you’re writing longer sentences and filling it with negative expressions every step of the way.

The device includes none of what makes these types of machines extremely useful, making it no more relevant to the industry lanscape than contraptions fashioned without the future in mind.

Notice how dense that thing turned out with three negative expressions scattered throughout?

Many unseasoned writers often fall prey to the trap of verbosity – using too many words to express too little of an idea. Unless your goal is to write a requisite number of words, instead of successfully communicating with your audience, verbose prose is bad for business and should be avoided at all costs.

Here’s a good rule to help you break away from verbosity:

Don’t speak what you can communicate with a gesture. Don’t motion what you can express with a wink. Don’t wink what you can answer with a smile.

Verbosity is especially frowned upon when you are writing business documents. In a corporate environment where time equals money, few people have neither the time nor patience to read through rumbling text. As such, editing your document several times to trim the fat should help immensely.

Run it through an English writing software to help identify unnecessary portions which can be eliminated without losing the central idea.

Read through the material and start eliminating superfluous words.

Pay special attention to adjectives that do not help the communication.

If one sentence expresses the same idea as another, combine them into one.

A copy laden with too many unnecessary words is not only distracting, it’s irritating. Instead of spending the next five minutes understanding the message, it forces you to wade through a pile of words that do nothing for the experience. Avoid it at all costs!

When you’re writing web copy for a sales campaign, certain things can ensure your venture’s success.

The Offer. Make sure to detail the offer in as concise a way as you can. It’s the heart and soul of your copy, the whole driving force behind your pitch. If the offer isn’t clear, how are your customers supposed to figure out what they’re getting out of the whole deal?

Speaking To The Right Audience. Instead of writing text that tries to be everything for everyone, tailor each piece to a particular type of customer. You won’t sell the business benefits of a touchscreen smartphone, for instance, to an audience of 18 year old college students. It will likely just go over their head and make them conclude it’s not a product that they can use.

Sound Natural. The more natural-sounding your copy is, the less of a sales pitch it will come across. No one likes being sold to. If you manage to arm your copy with a conversational tone that looks to help, rather than persuade, the more willing your audience will be to follow you into the next step.

Call-To-Action. Always let them know what the next step is. Whether that is clicking through to a certain website or signing up with their email address, state it in no uncertain terms. If you don’t tell them what to do, it’s highly likely that they won’t do anything.

Be Concise. Every word included in your copy must be relevant to your message. Your aim is to sell – anything that doesn’t help you achieve that is a waste of time. Use an English writing software to help trim your copy so that it expresses your ideas without a thought out of place.

Some people are naturally gifted with the ability to write. A few, on the other hand, develop it through arduous study and practice. If you fall in neither of those categories and need considerable improvement in your English writing proficiency, a grammar software should more than make up for any lack of expertise.

High Quality Sentence Structure

Good writers develop certain techniques that make their texts appear much more interesting and attractive. Variations in sentence length, word use and language employment turn otherwise standard compositions into compelling reading.

Grammar software incorporate all of these best practices into their algorithms. When you put your text through such an application, it will identify parts that can benefit from adopting an alternate presentation, allowing you to integrate professional-level alterations that an turn a standard copy into a rich experience for its intended audience.

Write With Confidence

Do you check your writing time and again to make sure you haven’t made any mistakes? When you know a competent grammar software has you covered, you can write more confidently. Since you’ll have what is essentially an expert editor and proofreader at your beck and call, you can focus on expressing your ideas, instead of being stuck in a cycle of second-guessing your writing abilities.

Persuasive writing is when you take a position opposing or proposing a particular issue and write to convince your audience to do or believe something. For example, if you are involved in advertisement, you can use persuasive writing to get your readers to buy the product that you are proposing. You can also use this method of writing in different forms of writing using writing software such as essays to get your audience and readers to accept your point of view. Just like in other types of writing, using English software in persuasive writing will ensure the quality of your writing is up to standard. You should write your introduction in a way that you catch your audience’s attention by using unusual detail, a strong statement, an opening quotation, an anecdote, a fact or statistic, question, outrageous or exaggerated statement.

In persuasive writing you need examples and facts to support your opinion and for this you need to carry out a thorough research. You can use writing software to brainstorm ideas about any particular topic or issue that you are opposing or proposing in your writing. Persuasive writing requires you to be fully equipped with solid reasons to back your opinion or viewpoint. Most issues have arguments that are sound on either side and for your persuasive writing to be quality you need to anticipate most if not all the opposing view points then come up with counter arguments alongside your main points. Use research or statistics, real-life experiences and examples for support. Writing software will help you identify words that you can use to be as descriptive as possible and emphasize your viewpoint to make your audience believe what you are telling them.

English software will help you to review and make correction of errors to ensure your writing is credible. English software will act as your virtual teacher and educate you on how to proofread easily and efficiently. Though your writing may be persuasive, if your style of writing is not correct or you have grammatical or punctuation mistakes then your audience will definitely loose interest. English software will make identifying and correcting these mistakes much easier. The software will give you a guideline and great ideas on how to write using an appealing style. Writing software will diversify your style of writing through text enrichment to strongly draw and keep the readers convinced that your viewpoint is actually right.
